PICTOU – Folklorist and storyteller Donna Washington is presenting a family show at the deCoste Centre on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Washington brings both traditional and non-traditional stories alive with a fiery passion, a release from the deCoste Centre says.

She talks about everything from Greek myths to African folk tales and Arthurian legends.

She spent her childhood travelling the world, and that experience led to her love of all kinds of stories.

“She can captivate a room of adults or a gym full of preschoolers,” the release says.

It’s also Washington’s first time working in Canada, with shows across the Maritimes throughout March.

She has performed at thousands of schools, libraries and numerous storytelling festivals. She also offers workshops in storytelling, writing, education, and creative drama for librarians and educators.

Children will be admitted free to the performance, but must be accompanied by an adult. Adult tickets are $15.

Tickets are on sale at the deCoste Box office and will be available at the door.
