FLEUR'S FIND BY FLEUR MAINVILLE
"South America" is an album that was written over a long period of time by Charlottetown rockers The Meds.
They have worked with the who's who of East Coast musicians such as Matt Mays and Colin MacDonald from the Trews and have opened for the likes of The Sheepdogs and Meat Loaf, just to name a few. They began writing the album in 2009 and as a band they were in no hurry to throw their record out and just hope that it would land in the right place at the right time.
The Meds used their time wisely. Developing an incredible stage show and friendships in the industry and the entire time spending most of their focus on their fans.
The band who began in 2006 with a humble beginning in a basement now have their music being used on Global TV's Rookie Blue, on satellite and internet radio and their songs once being released are spending time on CBC Radio's Top 30 Indie Songs list.
The Meds are on tour at the moment in Ontario and making their way back home through the East Coast.
Kyle Drake, Pat MacDonald, Iain McCarvill and George Maros may have been playing together for over eight years but the freshness and clearness of their goals as a band and their songwriting together is incredibly contagious.
"South America" is an album that any fan of East Coast rock is going to want in their collection!
