You’ll have a blast. It’s free and it’s fun.
 WordPlay 2014 – It’s a festival!

Mark your calendars! Saturday, June 21, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Creamery Square in Tatamagouche. It’s WordPlay 2014 and it’s a festival!

It’s all about words -- words in books, spoken words, words in songs. It’s also about music and movement, illustrations and red and purple, and fun. It’s WordPlay 2014!

Everyone is invited and it is free to all.

There will be authors! Two iconic and beloved children’s authors, multi-award winners who have delighted generations of children of all ages, will start off the day. Sheree Fitch will twist your tongue and colour your imaginations with her latest book, Singily Skipping Along, as well as favourites like Mabel Murple, in all her purple-ness. Kathy Stinson, of Red is Best fame, will read from her latest book, The Man With the Violin, and has promised to put some red into the morning with old favourites too.

There will be a musician/author! Dave Gunning, 2014 ECMA award winning Songwriter of the Year and one of the favourite musicians on our North Shore, will be singing/reading from These Hands, which was the first place winner in the Great American Song Contest.

There will be music and movement! Trudy Carey, a music and movement specialist, will get children (and perhaps their parents too) grooving to songs inspired by books.

There will be music! The Wild City Roses, Anne Simmonds and Bev Caswell will bring fiddle, guitar, harmonica and voices to spread the music around to one and all.

There will be an illustrator!  Deanne Fitzpatrick, rug hooking artist and author, illustrated Sheree Fitch’s latest book, Singily Skipping Along. Deanne will offer a taste of rug hooking through a hand on activity.

There will be more!  Face painting, cookie decorating, book selling, book signing, and much, much, more.

To top it all off!  The morning will end with a Red and Purplicious Picnic on the deck of the Farmers Market. You can purchase picnic supplies at the Market, then join everyone on deck to celebrate words, in every possible shape and form.
