Jazz and classical guitarist to play at Eventide

Canadian jazz and classical guitarist Roddy Ellias will be touring in the Maritimes this July, including a stop in New Glasgow.

Based in Ottawa, Ellias has roots in the Maritimes as a former professor of guitar at St. Francis Xavier University.

Ellias has performed with a who's who of Canadian and American jazz musicians including Vic Juris, Gene Bertoncini, Lorne Lofsky, David Occhipinti, Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Nat Adderley and Slide Hampton.

He recently released his latest CD titled Monday's Dream.

Ellias will be performing with Truro guitarist Amy Brandon, who draws from the worlds of jazz, classical and experimental music to create landscapes of textural sound.

The duo will be performing original compositions as well as jazz standards. Master classes are being held in Windsor, Halifax and Truro.

Tickets are $20 for the show at Eventide Art Hub on Provost Street on July 8 and are available at the door.
