Mary Jane and Wendy

Mary Jane and Wendy Jan 17-2014

2012 marked a very important date for internationally renowned Gaelic singer Mary Jane Lamond and Cape Breton fiddler Wendy MacIsaac  for over twenty years of creating music and touring the world together they finally released Seinn, an album which achieves a tantalizing stability of traditional and original music performed and written between these two ladies.

With Mary Jane's melancholy Gaelic vocals along with her accordion playing and the pleasure the listener can hear in Wendy's fiddle style and I certainly cannot forget to mention the fact that she is a step dancing star which is not surprising since she is the cousin of Ashley MacIsaac,  Sienn has become an award winning album across Canada and the UK. It certainly does not hurt that both Wendy and Mary Jane are recognized for their sovereign musical careers, their love and passion of making sure that the Cape Breton heritage and tradition of both the fiddle tunes and the Gaelic language are shared and passed on, one can only say that it is about time that these ladies finally create an album together focusing so clearly on their strengths of music and talent.

Seinn is an album for any Celtic music lover but also for any listener who truly enjoys pure talent.  It is an album full of richly textured tunes with an incredible variety of styles of music.  It features newly written songs, lively fiddle sets and incredible ballads which are sure to stir any soul who listens but the one thing you cannot help but notice is the true joy that both Mary Jane and Wendy have when playing together.
