STELLARTON - Construction of Stellarton's new roundabout could begin in early spring.
Town engineer Tony Addis told Monday's committee of the whole meeting - in response to a question from Coun. George Megeney - that he figures the work could begin in May.
A call for tenders for the project has gone out, with a closing date of Feb. 26. Addis said any tender chosen by the town has to be submitted to the minister responsible for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal for approval.
"We submit to the minister what our recommendations are and hopefully get his approval back by the end of March."
The roundabout tender includes earthworks, concrete curb and gutter, paving, road markings, sidewalks, lighting, signs and landscaping.
Addis said the next tender to be called will cover the extension of Lawrence Blvd. through to MacGregor Ave. He said it could be called by the end of the month.

way to think big there folks... small minded thinking like that will keep your taxes going up and up and up.
In order to develop the park to expand the tax base to help keep residential taxes low you have to spend some money. This is done to entice businesses to build with in the park so they can be taxed to generate revenue for the town. The more money the town makes from business tax, the less it needs from residential. Have you ever seen someone make money with out spending money?

i can't understand the story that Mr Addis relates regarding start-up time, when the project hasn't even been approved in it's present stage,ESP maybe?and YES, just thinking-it will be majorally funded through our tax dollars ,the same way as we are funding the buisness park with one client!!

Big Picture, how's your vision, the Park was completed and lots on sale for how long now?,do ya see the rest of the invisible occupants beating a path to the town office for land rentall?admit it,the old and now the new Council need to take their heads out of the sand and admit it is just another white elephant thats going to cost us taxpayers a fortune before they even double the occupancy. If it takes 2 to 3 years to entice one buisness to set up there, can you imagine how many of our tax dollars are going to be wasted?
