Stellarton firefighters and town works employees are cleaning up a long diesel spill in the town.

Stellarton Fire Chief Dwight Campbell said the spill stretches from Riverton through town to the TCH 104 on ramp at North Foord Street.

Crews are spreading sand on the spill and are opening and closing Foord Street in sections as they work on the spill.

Goes up the TCH straight out past the exit to Mount William. Feel bad for the driver, that's an awful loss.

well, simply put they park the truck like that to protect workers from moron drivers who blow through emergency scenes because they're too busy being distracted by something else and are not paying attention to the road.
It happens more than you think.
I say good on them for doing everything they can to protect themselves.
As for the diesel, it takes a lot to ignite diesel. Unlike gasoline vapours diesel's flash point is MUCH higher and it is a much less volatile fuel
