ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A shrimp trawler is heading to its home port in Nova Scotia after a fire broke out on the vessel as it fished off the coast of Labrador.

No one aboard the 60-metre boat was injured.

The Northern Eagle, based in Sydney, N.S., caught fire on Christmas night.

The rescue co-ordination centre in Halifax was notified.

But the crew of a Cormorant rescue helicopter, based in Gander, N.L., was ordered to stand down when other vessels arrived to help extinguish the fire in the engine room.
