Trenton - It's been nearly three years since TrentonWorks announced its closure, but Premier Darrell Dexter hasn't given up hope yet that the location will once again churn out industrial products.
During a stop in Trenton Friday, Dexter confirmed that his government was continuing to work towards finding a new owner for the sprawling plant. Details, however, were few and far between.
"Everybody likes details," he said. "But confidentiality is the most important part - we're working to fine the right mix for the plant, but for corporations, their interest is confidentiality."
The province is "fully engaged" in attracting a new owner for the plant, he added.
"What I can say is that we're in full-court press mode," he said. "We're looking for an industry that is particularly beneficial for the region - not just for the short-term, but for the long-term."
When that will come, however, still remains to be seen.
"I keep thinking myself that it's going to crystallize in a reasonable period of time - but it does take time," Dexter said.
"I'm far from willing to accept that's it, after three years of not having a cheque paid out of that plant."
