HALIFAX - An economic impact report says the 2009 Tall Ships event in Nova Scotia injected $32.8 million into the local economy and drew 94,000 out-of-province visitors.
The province, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Halifax Regional Municipality all invested in the event.
Key findings of the report, prepared by TM Solutionsinc and Kelco Consulting Ltd., were released today.
More than 40 ships and 2,000 sailors attended the five-day Halifax event last summer.
From Halifax, ships visited ports in Lunenburg, Port Hawkesbury, Louisbourg, Sydney, Pictou and Pugwash.
The next Tall Ships event is expected to be held in 2012.
