MICHELIN SHARES SOME HOLIDAY MAGIC

 

In the spirit of holiday giving, Michelin in Pictou County and its employees are supporting the community again this year with a $11,500 donation to local organizations. The $11,500 donation was collected from fees from recyclable beverage containers, money saved in lieu of sending company greeting cards, and additional donations from Michelin.  To make this donation extra special and reflective of the community in which we live and work,  Michelin employees nominated  and selected one beneficiaries to receive donations to help make the season a little brighter at this special time of year Representatives from the following organizations were on hand to accept the donations from Jeff MacLean, Michelin Plant Manager (back left) and Anne Marie Colbert, Michelin Personnel Manager (back right): CARMA - Cat Rescue Maritimes, Earth Arc, Hillside Girls Club, The Life Centre, New Glasgow Kinsmen Christmas for Needy Families, Pictou County Children with Autism Association, Pictou County Food Bank, Pictou County Fuel Fund, Pictou County Roots for Youth, Pictou West Food Bank, Pictou County Volunteer Ground Search and Rescue,  West Pictou Consolidated School Breakfast Program, and St Vincent de Paul Society. Missing from photo: Daybreak Prison Ministries Christmas box program, Pictou County Christmas Fund, and the SPCA.

The Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital Foundation recently donated $50,000 to the Daffodil Place Campaign for the Lodge that Gives. In honour, of the donation, a room will be  named at the Lodge the Gives after the foundation. The lodge is undergoing a $15 miliion expansion that allow more people, including Pictou County residents, to stay in its facility while they are undergoing cancer treatements in Halifax. On hand for the donation, are from the front, left: Shirley Murray, SHMH Foundation; Mike Simmons, SHMH Foundation and Sheila Scaravelli, community campaign chair for the Daffodil Place Campaign.  Foundation board members include, from the back, left: Wanda Theriault, Anne McNeill, Murray Porter, Rick Cyr, Art MacDonald, Nancy Steele, David Quann and Sharon Gunn. 

Pictou County residents are continuing to share the Christmas spirit this season with many donations to charitiies that support families in need.
