"Little Bug" is the title of the Montreal/New Glasgow native Gabrielle Papillon's fourth album.

"Little Bug" was nominated for three 2013 Nova Scotia Music Awards including SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, Folk Recording of the Year, and the ever-coveted Female Artist Recording of the Year. Gabrielle was also nominated for Folk Recording of the Year at the 2013 East Coast Music Awards.

This was one of my favourite albums released in 2013 and I certainly was not the only one to think so, with the album having spent three months on the !Earshot charts and having been called one of the Top 12 Albums of 2013 on the CBC Radio's Atlantic Airwaves.

Papillon’s first album "Songs for a Rainy Day" was released in 2001 and 12 years later "Little Bug" came around. After taking an eight-year break from her music to complete a BA and a masters degree in English literature and history, Papillon could no longer ward off her true calling to write songs and perform. To call her new to the scene would be a lie but it has certainly been clear that in the last few years Gabrielle Papillon has gained a fierce Canadian following which has kept her very busy touring numerous times around Canada.

Produced by the Maritime award winning Daniel Ledwell, "Little Bug" is an enchanting album full of catchy melodies from this challenging singer-songwriter. Often compared to Canadian artist Feist, Gabrielle has never been called an aggressive singer but her voice is so full of heart and confidence that it allows her songs to have full impact on the listeners even though she is usually found at her live shows solo with just her oversized looking guitar strapped onto her very petite frame.

I actually had an incredible opportunity to spend last weekend recording on Gabrielle's highly anticipated next project and I for one will be waiting with bated breath for this release.
