Our Lady of Lourdes CWL met on May 5 with 19 members in attendance.

President Bernadette Kellock welcomed everyone and than led the group in the league prayer. Members also took part in a moment of silence for our deceased members and those who could not be in attendance.

Paula Cassidy reminded the women that May is the month of Mary and read an article about Mary. Marilyn Judge led the women in a decade of the rosary.

The CWL did the ministries at the April 5, mass and it will be saying the rosary before the weekday masses during the month of May.

The feast of Our Lady of Good Council was held April 26, and the group celebrated with mass followed by a luncheon of homemade soup, biscuits, rolls and dessert. Cheryl Lays and Vicki MacLeod entertained the women during the meal. It was a wonderful celebration.

The bridge club held its closing with 16 players present. A lunch was served and the ladies made a donation to the CWL.

Kellock reported that the Diocesan Convention was a great success. The Mass of Chrism was beautiful and a reception at the Museum of Industry was enjoyed by everyone.

We want to thank everyone for all the donations of food and all the help that was given to our CWL to make this event such a success. Joy MacKenzie and Brenda Duffy will do the hospital visitation. The Provincial Convention will be held at Lourdes on May 30-June 1. The Food Bank Drive was a big success and we thank everyone who donated food items for this important cause. Our annual book sale will be May 15- 17 and we appreciate all the work that Yvonne Barlock does for this sale.

Confirmation will be May 11 and Bishop Dunn will be here for the 11:15 a.m. mass and a reception will follow.

Two new coffee urns were purchased for our future use.

Fr. Bill Rankin's 50th Anniversary to the priesthood is coming up in June. We will celebrate on June 22 at the 11:15 a.m. mass with a reception to follow.

Liz Mahoney made rosary beads for all the children making their First Holy Communion. We will do something special for Liz in September, after our summer break.

A motion was made by Brenda Duffy that we purchase five new tables for the parish to use and seconded by Hilda Barry.

Joyce Heighton made a motion that we increase our donation to $100 for the IWK donation. Our June closing will be held at East Side Restaurant on June 9 at 6 p.m.

Our Fall Fair will be Sept. 20 with our chicken burger dinner. We will have a senior's tea late in June. The CWL will do the ministries at the 11:15 a.m. mass on June 1.

Father Peter MacDonald thanked the CWL for all we do for the parish.

The meeting was closed with prayer and lunch was served.
