Heather Kelday is a Valley based musician who has over a dozen years of playing music professionally on her resume. She has always been comfortable on stage weather found fronting the popular Nova Scotia bands Barefoot or A Band of Owls or standing solo on a stage sharing her incredible stage presence.
“The Hitchin’ Post” is Kelday’s first solo project which was released in 2009. She is an incredibly talented multi instrumentalist who moves easily from playing the piano to the banjo or from the guitar to the mandolin which has contributed to her own unique sound full of elements of soul, jazz and bluegrass.
All throughout “The Hitchin’ Post” listeners can hear her passion of the natural world and her belonging to the grassroots movement weaved through her solid songwriting. Her strong, gravely voice aids the listener to pay attention to the messages that this songwriter is sharing with us. What I love about this album is that every track evokes a different feeling and with that each track is very unique lending itself to wonderful story telling and thoughtful lyrics.
“The Hitchin’ Post” is a fun album of which I have enjoyed listening to on repeat and in 2014 we will see Heather Kelday release her second album and I for one can not wait!
