IODE members participate in Founder’s Day Service

The monthly meeting of Sir Frederick Banting Chapter IODE was held May 7, at Sobeys Westside community room.  

 

President Teela Billington welcomed members and called the meeting to order. Prayer was offered in unison, roll call followed with 250 volunteer hours reported.

 

Muriel MacDougall read the minutes from the previous meeting.  Treasurer Bev. McGuigan gave a favourable report.

 

Education officer Margie Fraser reported receiving bursary applications from the schools.

 

Canada Royal Heritage officer Muriel MacDougall spoke on the Queen’s 88th birthday. The president gave a report on the annual meeting held in Dartmouth.

 

Founder’s Day Service was held May 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with members from Sir Frederick Banting Chapter IODE and Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter IODE.  Flagbearers were Marlene MacLellan and Barb La Blonde of Sir Frederick Banting Chapter and Jean Arsenault and Jeannie Johnstone from Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter IODE.

 

The Nearly New Shop located behind New Glasgow Fire Hall is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 3:30 p.m.  New and good used clothing and items can be dropped off during these hours.
