Matthew Veenhuis is getting all his ducks in a row as he gets ready for the Great Duckie Race on the East River June 21 at high tide. Ducks can be adopted at the flea market on Sunday or at different venues around town as well as from local police and members of Crime Prevention and Crime Stoppers. First place duck will win $100, second prize will win $75, third place $50 and the last place duck in the race will win $25.  Prizes will also be awarded to children and adults who come the race dressed in a duck costume.

Recently the Board of Directors for the deCoste Entertainment Centre Society recognized two employees for outstanding 25 years of consecutive service with the deCoste Centre in Pictou,Nova Scotia. Both are familiar faces of the Centre and pictured left to right are ,Darlene MacDonald,General Manager and Nancy MacDonald ,Box Office Manager and Wayne MacGillivary ,Chair Board of Directors  of the Centre

On Friday, June 6th CHAD Transit offered a free drive to the Pictou DeCoste Centre and free return for any veterans, wives or legion members who wished to go to the Decoste Centre for “The Pipes of War – 70th Anniversary of D-Day. Here,  war bride Florence Hughes and CHAD Transit driver Philip Fisher as they get ready to depart to the Decoste Centre for the show.
