HALIFAX - The bright lights and big crowd at the Metro Centre didn't faze Evan Brannon.
The Churchville resident, pressed into service with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in a game Thursday in Halifax, was unfazed by the experience because he'd seen some QMJHL action with Val d'Or, his old club, said his dad Kelvin Brannon.
"It wasn't entirely new to him, but he did expect there to be a difference. He really enjoyed it, he liked playing with the more experienced guys."
Brannon, who will return to the Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets this weekend, saw a regular shift for two periods in the QMJHL game, but didn't see the ice in third period. The Mooseheads won it 6-5 in overtime.
Weeks Major Midgets coach Dave Ritcey, a scout for the Screaming Eagles, said he spoke with Cape Breton brass following the game and they seemed happy with Brannon's effort.
"They were happy with what they saw. He just went out and did his job - he was physical and intense, and did the little things he needed to do to please the coaching staff."
