PICTOU RCMP in the town say they are implementing a project to crack down on underage drinking, specifically targeting Broidy Park.

"It's that time of year again, where the weather has finally gotten warm enough for youths to start hanging around there," Cpl. John Currie told Pictou's Committee of Council Monday evening. Also, police have received complaints of broken glass at the park. "As in every year, now's the time that we have to flex our muscles a bit and go up there, and to keep it simple show them who's boss."

Currie said police are documenting their visits to the area and making targeted checks on certain nights, when underage drinking is more likely to occur.

"I've made clear to the members that a drive-by is not sufficient, that I want the cars parked and I want them walking through the park."
