NEW GLASGOW – Strap on your boogie shoes, hold on and get ready – Alan Gerber is back in town.
This internationally known artist is currently on tour in Atlantic Canada and will be performing at a house concert on Wednesday at 170 Temperance St. in New Glasgow, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Gerber is celebrating five decades in the music industry. He began his career in the mid 1960s working with The Doors producer Paul Rothchild and he soon found himself a part of the group Rhinoceros. The group toured North America with music legends Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, BB King, Traffic, Steppenwolf and Jeff Beck. In the 1970s, after leaving Rhinoceros, Gerber performed as a part of Bob Dylan’s “Rolling Thunder Review” and toured with Lou Reed and Leon Russell.
More recently, he has released six CDs and been a featured performer at The Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Festival, Toronto Harbourfront Blues Festival as well as touring France and the U.S.A. Tickets are $20.
