NEW GLASGOW – Celtic Circle’s musical brunch is well on its way to becoming a Sunday staple. Three local acoustic artists are on the menu for Dec. 8.

Crystal Mann will be performing with two other Pictou County musicians on Sunday at the Celtic Circle. SUBMITTED

Among them is Crystal Mann, a Cape Breton born singer and songwriter who now calls Pictou County home.

“For her, music is deep and meaningful,” a release about the show said.

Mann plays an eclectic mix of songs, including her own originals, renditions of traditional folk and Maritime tunes as well as covers of artists that inspire her such as Rita MacNeil and Stan Rogers.

Joining her are Trevor Stanley and Kent Vodden.

Stanley, influenced by genres such as old time folk, blues and world music, has been involved with music all of his life.

The Pictou musician has been in rock bands, a live electronic act and the drum player in several jazz groups.

“With a piano teacher for a mother and a college radio DJ for a father, there was very little chance of growing into anything other than a musician.”

He plans to release an original body of work in the future, but doesn’t want to rush it.

For now, he’s raising his family and working on his favourite covers.

Vodden is coming out of Pictou as well.

“Hijinks and shenanigans are the order of the day, with stories of moonshiners, and hurting drinking tunes.”

He combines the old and the new for a unique act with a soulful voice and an interesting choice of instruments.

There will be breakfast and lunch selections, desserts, as well as hot and cold beverages available for purchase at the show. The cover charge is $5.

It runs from 1 to 4 p.m.
