NEW GLASGOW – Art At Night may not be until May, but the preparations are well underway.

In fact, the submission deadline is right around the corner.
They’re looking for pieces from any skill level and of any style by the end of day on Saturday.
“We’re looking for as much as variety as possible,” Andy Cunningham, event co-ordinator, said.
This is the third year for the event.
Cunningham said last year was incredible.
“We had twice as many artists and five times as many venues,” he said.
In its inaugural year, they had 40 artists taking over five locations.
Last year, it jumped to 80 artists showcased at 14 venues with approximately 1,500 people walking around downtown New Glasgow to view it.
He hopes to see even more venues this year and a larger audience.
They’re looking for both conventional and unconventional locations, including parks, storefronts and restaurants.
This year’s confirmed venues include BaKED Food Café, EVENTIDE Art Hub, Glasgow Square and the New Glasgow library.
Cunningham created the event as part of National Youth Art Week in 2012.
As long as someone considers it art, Art at Night will feature it. It can be any form of self-expression, including paintings, sculptures, music, poetry and theatre.
“The response has been really good so far.”
They’ve received a lot of work from visual artists and photographers, as well as several new artists.
Art at Night takes place in downtown New Glasgow on May 3 from 8 p.m. until midnight.
