NEW?GLASGOW - Frigid temperatures over the weekend couldn't keep kids and adults alike from heading to the fourth annual Chocolate Festival at the North End Rec Centre.
Many of the family-friendly activities over the weekend featured time outside, but the cold temperatures didn't deter anyone from lacing up their skates and hitting the outdoor rink at the centre, said Dawn Peters, a member of the organizing committee.
"It's been cold, but it's really nice and sunny - it's wonderful weather for this," Peters said.
Large crowds attended each event during the three-day carnival, she said. As usual, the chocolate chip pancake breakfast sold out.
"I couldn't even say there's one event where the crowds weren't there - so far everything's been equally well-attended," she said.
The weekend featured many family-friendly events, including a costume skate with members of the Crushers hockey team.
"This is a nice weekend for everyone to come out and meet their neighbours," she added. "It's something you look forward to every year."
All of the money raised during the weekend will go towards installing a wheelchair-accessible bathroom on the main level of the rec centre.
A ramp for the building is already in the works.
