David Semler believes everyone is a psychic.
He says all people have some degree of psychic ability, and it is up to us to listen to our intuitions. This is the message he has been delivering on his lecture tours both across Canada and around the world. His tour includes a stop in Pictou County - he will be a guest speaker at Stellarton's Museum of Industry on Feb. 26 at 1p.m., delivering a lecture titled Extra Sensory Perception.
Have you ever left a situation because, for no apparent reason, you felt uncomfortable? Perhaps every once in a while you just know who is about to call you moments before the phone rings. Semler believes these psychic intuitions are a kind of a sixth sense.
"Our sixth sense is the most important sense," he says. "It's something that's beyond the physical."
In his lectures, Semler discusses how to interpret intuitions and other forms of ESP.
He says feelings of dÉja vu, for instance, can be a sign that you are "in the right place at the right time."
"It's like a piece of us is telling us there's something very pertinent going on at that place and time."
So if everyone is psychic, why don't more people talk about their so-called psychic experiences? Semler says, simply, many people are shy about sharing their experiences.
He says others dismiss these experiences, trying to find "logical explanations."
But there is a difference between an actual psychic experience and just a really good guess, he says. Semler says when a person's intuitions are correct often and consistently, these are more likely to be psychic experiences. "I consistently follow my feelings and I've learned to trust that," he adds, explaining that in his lectures he encourages others to do the same. "It's a lot about learning to trust that sixth sense and discern it properly."
So why are we psychic? Semler believes our psychic intuitions guide us to make the right decisions in life. "I'm not trying to impose my views on people," he says.
"My philosophy is to share my experiences with people and let them decide for themselves."
