More than 60 people spent Saturday afternoon knocking down bowling pins.
And after weeks of collecting pledges for the SPCA, who can blame them for wanting to have a little fun?
"It was hard work for these guys to go out and get their pledges and stuff like that," said Dee Brown, shelter manager.
Because of their efforts, $3,000 was raised.
"I can't thank the people of Pictou County enough - the ones who come here and the businesses that donated the prizes," Brown said.
This is the second year the bowl-a-thon was held.
"Each year we get better and it makes you feel good that this many people came out the day before Valentine's Day and supported the SPCA," she said.
The money will go to the upkeep of the building.
"A lot of people don't realize there's a lot of cost there, Brown said. "It'll help bring in other animals as well."
Because the SPCA is run on donations and volunteer work, fundraisers like this are crucial.
"This is the only way money comes in, through fundraising and the generosity of the people," she said.
All the money raised will stay locally.
If there was one thing Brown was sure of at the end of the day it was this: "There are a lot of people out there that love animals."
She's thankful for that.
