NEW?GLASGOW - Renovations have begun on a project that will see the New Glasgow library and fire department become more accessible to residents.
The $600,000 project will see an addition of 2,400 square feet added to the rear of the library, said CAO Lisa MacDonald.
"It's part of our overall downtown plan," MacDonald explained. "We're improving the space by adding a glass atrium wall and expanding the program space." The addition will house the program room, she added.
The changes will also make the second floor of the fire hall fully accessible, MacDonald explained. A ramp will be added to the rear of the building for access.
The work is slated to be completed by the end of the year.
