RCMP have man in custody after robbery

A 20-year-old Antigonish man will make a court appearance Wednesday in connection with an robbery at an Antigonish convenience store New Year's Eve.

RCMP say shortly before midnight, a suspect entered the Needs Convenience store on James Street and demanded money from the clerk. He fled the store with a quanity of cash.  Police were given a description and a nearby officer located a male suspect.  The man attempted to resist arrest and was taken into custody.

Police credit the action of the clerk and working video suveillance which led to the identification and quick arrest of the suspect.   The accused remains in custody and will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court tomorrow.
