Enfield – A Nine Mile River man has been charged with attempted murder.
The 44-year-old man was charged in connection with an assault of a 50-year-old man at a residence on Renfrew Road. RCMP say the man was attacked with a hammer and assaulted Monday around 8:30 a.m. A female attempted to intervene and was assaulted as well. The victims sustained non-life threatening injuries. The suspect and victims are known to each other.
Police arrested the suspect at another residence on Renfrew Road without incident and search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence where a quantity of marijuana and long guns were seized.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, the suspect also faces two counts of uttering threats, one count assault, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and unsafe storage of firearms.
The suspect has been remanded into custody and will make his first court appearance in Truro Wednesday.
