NEW GLASGOW – Molly’s Rainbows is hosting their ninth annual Carnival of Rainbows this Saturday and organizer Jodi MacIvor hopes above all else that people have fun.

“Our number one goal is for people to come and make lasting memories with their families,” MacIvor says.

She would like to raise $5,000, but the money comes second. She says the more donations they receive, the more they can give to charities that help families and children in need.

Those charities this year will be the IWK and the Pictou County Roots for Youth House.

The free and fun-filled day will be held at North Nova Education Centre from 1-5 p.m. There will be lots of games where children can win tickets to exchange for prizes. There will also be a bouncy castle, cotton candy, face-painting and other activities.

MacIvor says she’s often asked why they don’t charge for games or food.

She says it’s because she wants to ensure everyone has a care-free day. She doesn’t want anyone to be held back from having fun because they don’t have the funds.

The carnival is held in memory of Jodi’s daughter, Molly, who died in a car accident on June 4, 2004.

The registered charity accepts donations upon admission. This year, the entrance for admission will be at the front entrance of the school rather than the back as in previous years.
