NEW GLASGOW – A familiar face will soon be seen on the bench in Pictou County.
Judge Del Atwood, who served as Crown prosecutor in the area prior to his appointment to the bench last November, will return to Pictou County to take over from Judge Theodore Tax, who currently serves as judge in provincial court in Pictou and New Glasgow.
The change comes as part of a shuffle of judges across the province as a result of vacancies in the Dartmouth area after two veteran judges retired. Tax will be one of the judges who will now sit in the Dartmouth area, replacing Associate Chief Judge Brian Gibson, who is retiring.
Atwood graduated from Dalhousie University law school in 1983 and has been a practising member of the bar for 24 years. Since taking the bench, Atwood has served as a provincial and family court judge in Truro.
