NEW GLASGOW – A Sylvester woman has been charged with defrauding the Department of Community Services of more than $5,000.
Donna Lee White, 54, is accused of defrauding the department of $7,153.87 between October 2008 and August 2009.
Crown attorney Jody McNeill told the court that due to the length of the time the fraud took place, they intended to proceed indictably on the charges.
Typically, when a charge proceeds by indictment, it carries a stiffer penalty if someone is convicted.
White will be back in court on April 20 to enter pleas.
