PICTOU – A Caribou man will be back in court next month to answer to a number of charges under the Excise Act and the Revenue Act, as well as a drug possession charge and several weapons charges.

Kenneth William Scanlan, 58, appeared in Pictou provincial court on Tuesday, but his case was set over while his lawyer poured through the disclosure from the charges.

Scanlan was charged Jan. 13 in Caribou for possessing unstamped tobacco products, possessing tobacco on which the tax has not been paid, possessing tobacco that does not bear the prescribed mark and possessing more than five cartons of cigarettes.

He also faces a charge of possessing marijuana and charges of improper storage of 15 firearms.
