ALMA – Two Pictou County men have been arrested after Mounties responded to a possible impaired driving and theft of a motor vehicle at a car dealership on Balodis Drive in Alma on Wednesday morning.

Witnesses reported that a Nissan Maxima with no plate, but dealership paperwork on the window, hit a deer and the two adult male occupants were believed to be intoxicated around 1:39 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Pictou RCMP attended the scene and the vehicle was gone on arrival. RCMP fanned out a request for assistance and at approximately 4 a.m., Stellarton municipal police stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle on Foord Street in the town.

As a result of the two investigations, a 42-year-old driver will face impaired driving and theft related charges, and a 51-year-old passenger will face only theft related offences.
