STELLARTON – A partnership between the Nova Scotia Community College campus in Stellarton and the Pictou County Tourist Association is set to make this year’s tourism award gala an unforgettable event.

Cindy MacKinnon, executive director of the PCTA, says the gala on Thursday evening at the community college will not only highlight the best and brightest of the tourism sector, but it will also feature the talents of the NSCC students.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the students and staff of NSCC to host our Gala Awards Dinner,” MacKinnon said.

“It is a great event that showcases our tourism industry and the programs at the college.”

The evening will showcase students enrolled in the NSCC’s tourism management and cooking programs, she added.

Kicking off with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner and the awards presentations following at 6:30 p.m., the PCTA will hand out several awards.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear Dave Carroll speak and perform at the event.

Carroll drew the attention of people across the globe with his smash hit last year, United Breaks Guitars, a song that explains his experiences with the airline’s customer service after his instrument was destroyed during a flight.

“We are excited to have Dave Carroll as our guest speaker, we have a great mix in our audience this year and are pleased with the support we continue to receive from Pictou County,” MacKinnon said.
