NEW GLASGOW – Two up-and-coming talents in Pictou County will be performing at the Scotsburn Dairy Children’s Jubilee in Carmichael Park today.
Thirteen-year-old Bailey MacKinnon of Westville and 10-year-old Connor Skrynsky of Pictou will be two of the acts performing during the free concert in the park, beginning at noon.
“I played there last year and it went well,” said MacKinnon who performs locally at fundraisers and talent contests. She takes singing lessons from Darla MacKeil and has made it to the Top 30 out of 300 competitors in YTV’s contest The Next Star.
“I started singing when I was two and have been taking lessons for seven years now,” she said. “Some day I want to be able to teach music.”
Skrynsky is a self-taught musician and has been playing the guitar since the age of two. Last summer, he performed with Beyond Ash during the 2009 Jubilee and a solo at the children’s jubilee.
Other performers include children’s entertainers Sunshine Sue and Razzmatazz. Activities taking place the Children’s Jubilee include inflatable bouncers, face paintings and interactive games.
The event, which is free of charge, will take place on the gazebo stage in Carmichael Park, just off the George Street Bridge.
