NEW GLASGOW – Monetary donations for a local girl fighting Lyme disease can be accepted at any Scotiabank in the county, where an account is set up in trust.

Eleven-year-old Chelsey Livingstone-Rector is hoping to see a specialist in the United States for treatment. Her family is currently paying between $800 and $1,000 a month for medications. The families insurance won’t cover travel costs to the U.S. or any hospitalization she may need while there.

Livingstone-Rector was bitten by an infected tick when she was just two years old and living in Ontario.
