TRENTON – The cause of a fire this week at Nova Forge will likely never be known.

New Glasgow Police Const. Ken MacDonald confirmed Friday that the fire marshal has concluded his investigation into the blaze at the Trenton facility.

"The fire marshal was able to determine the origin of the fire, but not the cause," MacDonald said. "The damage was just too extensive, so they were unable to determine the cause there."

The fire broke out in the pump room, located in the southwest corner of the forge building. Staff called emergency responders around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and evacuated the facility. No one was harmed in the blaze.

Bentley Rice, the deputy fire marshal who handled the investigation, said this was one of the largest fires he'd ever investigated, as well as one of the most complex. He commended Nova Forge for their co-operation with the investigation.
