NEW GLASGOW – Nat King Cole crooned that “Love is all that I can give to you,” but the North Nova Education Centre Jazz Choir has another suggestion for county residents.

Participants can choose from the Nat King Cole tune “L.O.V.E.,” The Turtles’ “Happy Together” or Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” and have their sweetheart serenaded on Valentine’s Day as a fundraiser for the choir.

“You can have six members of the choir go out and sing to the person of your choice,” said choir member Michelle Johnson.

The fundraiser also includes a rose and chocolates for the recipient and costs $30.

“I like to see their reaction,” said Moriah MacLeod, who added that it’s usually pretty well received.

“When they cry it’s the best,” said Johnson. “Last year, we all piled into this woman’s kitchen and she started crying. Her son got it for her – it was the best.”

Teacher Janice Alcorn says the fundraiser is usually pretty popular.

“Any time we can do a fundraiser through music instead of selling something, it’s much better,” she said.

Telegrams can be booked by calling Crystal at 752-1183.
