SCOTSBURN – For the first time in 16 years, Stonehame Lodge and Chalets will not be open for the winter months.

Jeff Gunn, co-owner and general manager of Stonehame Lodge and Chalets on Fitzpatrick Mountain, confirmed Wednesday morning that the business closed its doors on New Year's Day.

"We are closed for the winter as of January 1, 2013, and we don't know when Stonehame will reopen," Gunn told The News. "This will be the first winter in 16 years that we will not be open for business. We want to say how much our family and staff have appreciated the support from the people of Pictou County and beyond over the years."

Gunn said he is unable to comment at this time as to why the business closed for the winter.

Stonehame Lodge and Chalets has 10 lot chalets, three private guest rooms and 12 deluxe rooms as well as meeting facilities in the main lodge.
