NEW GLASGOW – The Retired Teachers Organization is encouraging retired teachers in the area to put their bowling shoes on and get active.
Alice Lees, a member of the organization, said retired teachers can show up to Heather Lanes to bowl Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. in January with other retired teachers in an effort to stay active after retirement.
“It’s about keeping active and involved in the community, that’s the big thing for us,” Lees said. “The benefits of staying active are better health and being active and being involved.”
The Retired Teachers Organization in Pictou County has made other strides towards keeping retired teachers in the region physically active with walks in Trenton Park this past fall. The organization also has social events to keep retired teachers active in the community. The cost of bowling with the Retired Teachers Organization is $7. There is no pre-registration required.
“Just show up, and have fun,” Lees said.
