A Grade 3 student in Eastern Passage is asking Pictou County residents to help him with a school project.
This week The News received a letter from Sam, who is in a French immersion social studies class.
Here’s what he wrote:
My name is Sam. I am in grade 3 at Tallahassee Community School in Eastern Passage. We are learning about Nova Scotia and we would like to know a little bit about your community. Could you please send a letter or postcard with a bit of information and why you like your community. Thank you!
P.S. I speak English and French
His teacher Tracy MacDonald explained that she is hoping to help the students learn about different communities by actually hearing from the people who live there, so students were each assigned a newspaper in the province to write to help the with the project.
Already some students have gotten responses back.
“We’ve got some post cards already,” MacDonald said. “They’re finding it really, really neat to see the pictures.”
The kids love hearing about other places and the differences between Nova Scotia’s towns.
“They’re having a great time with it,” MacDonald said. “It gives them a much better of what Nova Scotia is really like.”
If you’d like to help Sam with his project, you can send a postcard or letter to him at:
