PICTOU – County councillors want the RCMP to pay closer attention to speeders along the Pleasant Valley Road and Salter Road.
Coun. Leonard Fraser said he is getting complaints from residents that the vehicles are travelling at high rates of speed down the road and he would like to see more police presence in the area.
“They feel they aren’t getting enough service on the portion of the road,” he said, adding that a letter be sent to RCMP requesting more speed checks for the area.
Coun. David Parker supported Fraser’s motion, but did mention that he has seen an RCMP presence in the area.
“That area is a straight road but it’s not level,” he said. “I will say twice last month, I saw them there checking speed. There is some work being done there. It’s not a race track, but the 80 km hour limit is not being carefully observed, especially in that hollow.”
