Teen accused in home invasion, assault returns to court Feb. 13

PICTOU – A 17-year-old arrested in connection with an alleged home invasion this past weekend in Pictou will return to court next month.

The youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, made a brief court appearance Thursday during which time his lawyer and the Crown agreed to adjourn the case until Feb. 13.

He is expected an enter pleas on charges of breach of probation, breach of an undertaking, uttering threats, unlawful entry, two counts of assault and one count of wearing a disguise with intent. In addition to the election and pleas, the youth will be sentenced on two other charges from an unrelated case. He has agreed to remanded into custody until his next court appearance.

RCMP were called to a Pictou home Saturday after receiving a complaint that three males entered a home without consent and assaulted two 20-year-old men and threatened a 19-year-old man.

The two other 17-year-old youths also charged in connection with the incident will return to court Jan. 23. They have been released from custody on a court undertaking.
