PICTOU – County council is still waiting on word from the Town of New Glasgow as to whether an extra fire hydrant can be placed along the East River Road and Blue Acres area.
Coun. Andy Thompson of Plymouth asked in October that the county look at the costs of installing water hydrants in the area after fire departments responded to a blaze near the former Farmer Clem’s location in September.
However, since the water lines in this area belong to the Town of New Glasgow, the county cannot take on the project itself.
County staff said the request has been forward to the Town of New Glasgow’s engineering department, but it has not made it to council yet.
However, council was told that the Town of New Glasgow is currently working on its capital project list for the upcoming fiscal year and there is a good chance that it could be included.
