WESTVILLE – Highland Ford presented cheques totalling over $10,000 towards extracurricular activities to Pictou County high schools.

Northumberland Regional High School, North Nova Education Centre and Pictou Academy participated in Ford of Canada’s Drive One 4 Your School program.

NRHS received $3,120, NNEC received $3,560 and PA received a cheque for $2,840.

“We’ve been in business for 13 years, and this is the best program to help support the schools in the community,” said Linda Barker of Highland Ford.

“It gives the schools and their students a chance to raise money for their extracurricular programs.”

Highland Ford challenged each of the local schools to produce a short video about the program. NRHS was selected by the management staff as having the winning video and received an additional $1,000.

“We were really surprised that we won the additional money,” said Alex Ianta and Robyn Sutherland, the two students who submitted the video from NRHS.

The school’s principal Erin Cormier says the monies will be used for athletics, music and other extracurricular activities.

“The video had a lot of positive reviews from students at NRHS,” said Cormier. “We’ll be using the video to promote the program next year.”

Highland Ford has hosted 11 Drive One events over the past year and has raised over $45,000 for schools and communities in the Pictou County region.

Did you read the article? Highland Ford challenged all schools to participate. The winning schools did so, and as a result are rewarded. Stop griping about Highland Ford doing a good thing!
