The Town of New Glasgow Water Utility is advising customers that there is currently a water outage on Washington Street, from Marsh Street to Brother Street, and possibly also affecting the surrounding area, today, until approximately late afternoon.

This outage is necessary to repair a main line water main break.

Public works was informed about the break at around 8:00 am this morning. Workers say the age of the infrastructure combined with the intense cold may have caused this watermain break, as the constant freeze and thaw can shift the soil around the watermains.

This block of Washington Street will be closed to traffic during the period repairs are being made.
