A new offer will be presented to the striking teachers union tomorrow, St. Francis Xavier Association of University Teachers is reporting.
This is the first full offer made in eight months of negotiating.
“We’re looking forward to constructive discussions, but a deal isn’t likely unless the administration is prepared to show some movement,” St. FX AUT president Peter McInnis said. “Our members remain committed to sustaining strike action and won’t relent until an equitable settlement is reached. They understand that continued strike action is the key to achieving a fair deal.”
The union at St. FX has been striking for a week now.
Meanwhile, strike co-ordinator Chris Frazer is advising members to check weather updates and not to travel in bad weather. Those who are able to make it into town will maintain a presence on the picket lines.
The group cancelled their morning picket line that was scheduled for 10 a.m.
