PICTOU – This is one festival that just takes the cake.

The Pictou United Church will be holding their Annual Valentine Event this Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event, now in its eighth year, is a fundraiser for the Pictou United Church. The money will go towards the church’s general fund to maintain the building, among other things.

“It’s great to see people, new and familiar faces at the event,” said Diane Vaughan, co-coordinator of the Chocoholic Event.

“One of the best parts for me is the fact that it involves so many people, not necessarily from the church, but the community.”

Some of the highlights of the delectable evening include desserts, Valentine card creation, chocolate making, chocolate fountain, a silent auction and cupcake walk.

Vaughan says a few of the events are new and are sure to be a hit this year. “The fish pond is always a lot of fun and we’ll be doing some hair tinseling, new this year.”

She says her granddaughter can’t wait for the hair tinseling.

There is a $2 admission fee and activity tickets at $1 each or you can pay $20 per family (includes 20 tickets).
