“We’re proud to again offer this successful and unique fundraising effort in our community that brings a line-up of award-winning films to our local theatre,” said Doug Lloy, Rotarian and FilmFest committee chair. “We have a fantastic lineup of films this year, and are very proud to offer the new student special student pricing.”

Tickets are $40 each for adults, $20 for students, or $200 for a book of six and are available at Empire Theatres and Scotiabank locations in New Glasgow (Provost St. & Westside Branches) or from members of the Rotary Club.

The club’s special student package for $20, is offered to any high school and post-secondary students.
Lloy suggests the corporate package as a way to thank or treat employees, or a great outing with co-workers, and everyone chipping in on a package.

The club also has made adjustments to the timing of the festival.

“We like the idea of having two films on the Sunday, and the finale on the Wednesday evening,” said Lloy. “It spreads out the lineup and we hope this makes the FilmFest more accessible and accommodating to busy schedules.”

The event will support the Rotary Club of New Glasgow and Kids Help Phone, a charity of choice for Empire Theatres, as well as two local charities, Roots for Youth and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pictou County.

“In the two years we’ve have this event we’ve raised over $17,000 and we’re very proud to support all of the deserving charities in a fun and unique way,” said Lloy.

The club credits the success of the FilmFest to local businesses who sponsor the including Empire Theatres, Advocate, AA Munro, Michelin, Tim Hortons, YOLO Marketing, and Scotiabank, which will be matching ticket sales sold at their New Glasgow branches.

A silent auction will be held at the event with lots of great prizes. Finger food and a special FilmFest beverage and popcorn special is also being offered.
