Peewee A Crushers pick up victory

PICTOU COUNTY – The peeweee A Crushers improved to 1-2 in their round-robin playoffs with a 3-2 victory over Brookfield Monday night at the Wellness Centre. Carson Ripoll's goal to give the Crushers a 3-1 lead with 1:41 remaining, stood up as the game-winning goal.

The Elks scored with 48 seconds to go but Pictou County played strong defense in the final seconds of the game to hang on for the win.

Clark Robertson opened the scoring for the Crushers in the first to tie game 1-1 with a quick shot from the slot. Ian MacDonald picked up the assist. Captain Isaac MacDonald snapped the tie on a deke with 1:51 to go and assisted on Ripoll's goal 10 seconds later. Tyler Watters was stellar in goal in the victory.

The Crushers playoffs continue with two games against Cumberland on Feb. 16 and 17.
