7:55 - Here's a few of some of the great stories The News team was working on yesterday:

The News' Amy MacKenzie was on hand to talk about New Glasgow's Art at Night:

NEW GLASGOW – The deadline for artist’s submissions to participate in New Glasgow’s Art at Night is Friday at midnight.

New Glasgow’s Art at Night had its inaugural event last year, when businesses, parking lots and other venues played host to more than 40 artists who showed off their work to the community at night.

7:45 - Newsroom Manager Adam MacInnis did a story relating to African Heritage Month:

What motivated George Borden to write his poem Black Athletes?

That’s the question he was asked last night as he took to the podium to recite his lines and talk about his work at a launch for “The Great Black North” in Cherry Brook, an anthology of poems by African Canadians that includes his work.

7:35 - Chris Cameron was at the heart breaking Weeks Crushers game last night:

PICTOU COUNTY – A strong start and a strong finish weren’t enough to give the Pictou County Weeks Crushers the fate they felt they deserved Thursday night as they fell just short of a win, 3-2 against the Yarmouth Mariners.

After the game Garrett Holmes said it came down the Mariners winning the special teams battle. The Crushers were 0-7, while Yarmouth went 2-7.

See the rest here.

7:25 - Take a look at today's front page, Valentine's Day magic and romance. Click here to see a video of this barbershop quartet in action!

7:15 - Here's the weather for today, thanks to Environment Canada:

Today A mix of sun and cloud. Wind north 20 km/h becoming light early this morning. High plus 2.

Tonight Increasing cloudiness. 30 percent chance of flurries overnight. Wind becoming south 20 km/h overnight. Low minus 2.

Saturday Cloudy. 30 percent chance of showers late in the evening. Wind south 20 km/h becoming southeast 20 in the afternoon then becoming east 20 in the evening. High plus 4.

7:10 - Here's a news release that just came across my desk - "After 26 years, RUSH returns to Halifax, Performing as part of their Clockwork Angels Tour, Friday, July 12 at the Halifax Metro Centre. Tickets on sale Saturday, February 23 at 10 a.m."

7:05 - Good morning Pictou County and Happy Friday! I hope everyone is doing well and that your post-Valentine's hangover isn't too bad. On that note, feel free to send me any pics or videos of your Valentine's Day experience.
